Bloggers Welcome/Wanted

The forums here are great for discussing various things, but sometimes there is more of a story to tell. For that, Cycle Conway now has blogs. Blogs are for people to use to tell a story, share an idea, and otherwise be creative. If you are interested in keeping a blog or ride journal about cycling, in or out of Conway, leave a comment or use the contact form to tell us. Once we receive the request we will enable your blog. Happy writing and riding!

Bicycle Friendly Community Survey

I have put together a survey to collect information about the plan for Conway to become a bicycle friendly community. This information is being collected for use in the master plan, and to find out specific areas of interest for the cycling community. Please take a few minutes and fill out the survey.

Progressive Move by the City Government

First off, a big thank you to everybody that came to the city council meeting last night. The support for the bicycle initiatives was overwhelming. Secondly, both initiatives passed with a 6-0 unanimous decision.

Lets Do A RideCivil Event on August the 29th

A group of riders in Seattle created RideCivil to solve the problems of Critical Mass rides and still allow cyclists to express advocacy by riding. The concept is essentially a group bicycle ride where everyone obeys the laws and spreads the word about cycling in urban areas. I say we do one of these, read on for more detail...

City Requests Thoughts and Comments on Bicycle Route Map

The Little Rock Metroplan Board has created a map to show current bicycling routes and trails for the entire metro area -- including Conway. They are seeking opinions from people like us that travel around the cities on bikes. The map is attached below for everybody's review.

We Need T-Shirts

A good way to get the word out about what we are doing is to make t-shirts. I for one love having a t-shirt for everything I am involved in. I have come up with a design and want your thoughts.

Free Bicycles to University of Arkansas Students

The Arkansas Times is reporting that the University of Arkansas is starting a program where they lend bicycles to students. This would be a great initiative for all of our colleges to undertake as well. Is there anybody out there willing to take this on?

July 10, ISBC Meeting

Mayor Tab Townsell attended the first meeting of ISBC. Mayor Townsell is committed to making Conway an official Bicycle Friendly Community. This is a designation bestowed by the League of American Bicyclists.
See: http://www.bicyclefriendlycommunity.org
Mayor Townsell anticipates presenting a resolution in support of this effort to the City Council in the very near future; our group will serve as an advisory group to such city initiatives. Watch this forum for the date, so you can come out and show your support for this initiative at the city council meeting!
