I decided to attempt to build a home made bike, using recycled bike parts where possible.

My wife has lower back issues and should not ride a regular bike- but a recumbent with an ergonomic seat might be fine, so I
I am looking into a tandem semi-recumbent or a recumbent trike (side by side seating). Or maybe a 4 wheel recumbent?

I may settle for a single semi- recumbent for the 1st model since it will require less material and be less complicated.

It occurred to me the other day on a ride to the grocery store that I have not been honked at or yelled at in about a month. What makes this phenomenon even more strange is I have been on my bike even more as of late.

Over the last month I have been strongly considering the purchase of a cargo/utility bike. The main reason is because my oldest is going to outgrow the trailer soon, but is not big enough to ride on his own. The other reason is to have a supped up grocery getter. What I did not realize is there are actually several options out there.

When I first started looking all I found was the Xtracycle (left). Then I found the Surly Big Dummy (right) frame made specifically for the Xtracycle.
