CAB Promotes Bicycle Education
Smart Cycling Complete class (formerly Traffic Skills 101)
October 16, 2021
This course is designed to give beginning as well as more experienced cyclists the training they need to ride safely and legally in traffic and on trails. The course covers bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat, on-bike skills, riding in traffic, and crash avoidance techniques. It also includes a free student manual. We will send you the manual when you register for the course. Recommended for adults aged sixteen and above, this course prepares cyclists for a full understanding of vehicular cycling. This course is also required for those wishing to become instructors themselves.
The class consists of two segments, an online portion that must be completed by the end of the day October 15, and a morning of non-strenuous drills on a parking lot followed by a slow group ride on city streets. Students will be graded and awarded a certificate on the basis of their on-bike performance as well as the results of the online exam.
The online portion of the course is found by going to The League of American Bicyclists website, specifically: https://learn.bikeleague.org/smart-cycling-3
